Kim Truong, L.Ac
Licensed Acupuncturist & Herbalist
Certified Pediatric Acupuncturist
Kim Truong, M.A.O.M, L.Ac, is a licensed acupuncturist in the State of Texas, and is nationally certified as a Diplomate in Oriental Medicine by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Kim earned her Master’s of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine degree at the nationally and regionally accredited American College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ACAOM) in Houston, TX.
She is not only trained in acupuncture but is also licensed to practice herbal medicine and specialized techniques, such as cupping, tuina, moxibustion, and various forms of acupuncture, as in auricular and scalp acupuncture.
Kim specializes in pediatric and neurological acupuncture, treating patients of all ages for issues such as eczema, digestive disorders, constipation, allergies, night terrors, anxiety, nervous system disorders, and various other conditions.
She has studied under Dr. Baisong Zhong and Julian Scott, both of whom are renowned pediatric acupuncturists and authors. She was also taught from Dr. Ming Qing Zhu, a world renowned neurology scalp acupuncture specialist.
Kim grew up in Hawaii, in an environment that attests to how people can heal and be healthy naturally. Both her grandfathers, as well as her father, were herbal medicine doctors. At a young age, she found joy in helping out in her dad’s herbal pharmacy- weighing, measuring, and packaging little bags of loose herbs for patients. There was something so primal, so basic and simple about using a part of nature to heal and restore the human body. It was then that she realized that we are nature after all, and we too have the strength to evolve, grow, and heal ourselves.
She works under the knowledge that every system in the human body is interconnected. Finding out areas that are imbalanced and returning them to a homeostatic state not only heals the body, but helps maintain good health throughout life. Her medicine aims to help her patients achieve whole health, by optimizing the circulatory and nervous systems and strengthening immunity. She believes holistic health care involves proper nutrition, diet, exercise, meditation, and natural medicine. Emotional well-being and physical health are equally important and oftentimes one and the same. She believes the core of true health encompasses the wellness of all body, mind, and spirit together.
Children respond especially well to acupuncture and Eastern medicine practices. Acupuncture is safe and painless for all ages, even newborns. When natural healthcare practices are coupled with empathetic understanding, children are quick to thrive and grow into strong and healthy adults. There are great benefits in starting children on a wellness plan early on. Kim is passionate about helping kids build a strong foundation for a lifetime of good habits, good health and joy.
She enjoys contributing to her community and was an active volunteer for the non-profit organization, Acupuncturists Without Borders, in providing acupuncture to the Harvey Medical Relief Effort in 2017. There she provided free acupuncture to local Houstonians, tending to those who suffered losses from the devastating effects of the hurricane. She believes the collective health of the community helps us all as individuals too.
Kim practices her medicine with abundant love for what she does and a genuine concern for others. Her experience in life has shown her that true compassion surpasses all barriers of language, gender, and age. We all want the same things in life, which is to live life with happiness and good health. It is with this kindness and heart that she cares for each and every one of her patients to achieve their fullest well-being.
